The Jefferson County Library is sponsoring these educational presentations. These programs are free of charge. However, advanced registration is required, and can be made by calling the host branch.

January 2008	Genealogy Discussion Group Location: Northwest Branch Saturday, January 19, 2:00 to 3:30 pm Topic: Naturalization of foreign born individuals from colonial times to the mid twentieth century. We will also touch on immigration. Registration for discussion groups is not required.
February 2008	Preserving Your Oral Family History (Class) Location: Northwest Branch Day Class – Wednesday, February 27, 12:00 to 1:30 pm Evening Class – Thursday, February 28, 6:30 to 8:00 pm Learn how to save your oral family history by interviewing family members and writing your own memories down on paper. Preregistration requested.
March 2008	Genealogy Discussion Group Location: Northwest Branch Saturday, March 15, 2:00 to 3:30 pm Topic: to be announced Beginning Genealogy Class Location: Northwest Branch Day Class – Wednesday, March 26, 12:00 to 1:30 pm Evening Class – Thursday, March 27, 6:30 to 8:00 pm Find out the basics of family history research, including census, probate files, military and newspaper research. Preregistration requested.
April 2008	Online Genealogy Databases Location: Arnold Branch Friday, April 18, 11:00 to 12:30 pm. The instructor will explain how to use Heritage Question and Ancestry, Library edition to advance your family history. A Jefferson County Library card is required to use the databases. This program is free of charge. However, sign up is required by calling 636-296-2204. Using the Census Class Location: Northwest Branch Registration is required. May 2008	Genealogy Discussion Group Location: Northwest Saturday, May 3, 2008, 2:00 to 3:30 pm Topic: Why Our Ancestor Traveled to America? Each ethnic group has its own migration pattern. This migration may be caused by Religious Persecution, Economic Hardships, Mandatory Military Enrollment, etc…. Find out the overview of immigration history in America and why our ancestors immigrated to this country. June 2008	Genealogical Treasurers of Old Photographs Location: The Northwest Branch Registration is required. Call 636-677-8186 Day Class - Wednesday, June 25, 2:30 to 4:00 pm. Evening Class - Thursday, June 26, 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
